Clay Jarvis (Cassius M. Clay Jarvis) died at his home NW of town, Tuesday evening after being sick for some time with typhoid fever which assumed a grave form at the start. Rev. SK Fuson of Bloomingdale conducted the funeral at the Baptist church yesterday afternoon. Burial at the New Cemetery. He was the second son of Joseph and Rachel Jarvis and was born October 31, 1848. He was married to Ella S. Spencer who died Aug 1, 1902. Three daughters, Hazel, Cecil and Forest and one brother, Samuel survive him. It is noteworthy that Mr. Jarvis was buried on the 24th anniversary of his wedding. He was successful farmer and stock dealer and had amassed considerable property. - transcribed by kbz
